Ross Wilkins

Welcome to my playground!

My name is Ross E. Wilkins and I'd like to welcome you to Gud2BRabah.com! Why choose Gud2BRabah? Because quite simply, it is Good To Be the Rabah!

I am an Eagle Scout. I served in the United States Navy for 12 years reaching the rank of Petty Officer First Class (E6) as a Cryptologic Technician (Communications Branch). I have been primarily working for military contractors since that time, supporting the Navy directly for 21 years, and now supporting the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I'm an amateur musician. I've played the French Horn, the Jew's Harp, and a Dumbek. My passion is a cappella singing, from duets to 16 part arrangements and I'm a fan of more a cappella groups than I'm willing to list here.

I received two Associates Degrees from Leeward Community College in Pearl City, HI in 1988 and finally got my Bachelor's Degree from ECPI University in 2012. My degrees are in Information and Computer Science with an emphasis on Database Programming.

I have held membership in the Boy Scouts, American Mensa, the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA), the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), Phi Theta Kappa and Gold Key International Honor Societies, two Harmony Brigades, Atlantic (AHB) and North Carolina (NCHB) and the Industrial Society for Security Professionals (NCMS).

Feel free to poke around. This site is a work in progress and you never know what bit I may add next.

Tech Geek

I am a computer nerd and gadget geek. I have a laptop running Windows 11, a desktop computer running both Linux Mint and Windows 11, various Android-based items including a Jide Tech Remix Mini computer, a Samsung tablet and cell phone, and two Apple OS products, an iPad Mini tablet and iPod Touch. I have dabbled with Lego® Mindstorms EV3 and maintain a handful of websites including this one.

Games

I'm a huge fan of games. My roleplaying experience includes Dungeons & Dragons, Twilight 2000, Runequest, Villains & Vigilantes, & Mutants & Masterminds. Our boardgame collection is growing (300+ base games & 100+ expansions) and if I ever get the blog portion of this site up and running you'll be able to read about some of my favorites here.

Singing

I spend a large amount of my free time singing and learning music. I'm in a quartet called The School Board based in Virginia Beach, VA, and two Harmony Brigades. I was an active member of Soundworks, an a cappella chorus based in Richmond, VA for 10 years and have recently returned to sing with the Commodore Chorus based in Virginia Beach, VA.

Drumming

In addition to singing I used to play an arabic drum called the Dumbek and played for my bellydance friends when my schedule permitted. I was a member of the drum troupe, Mystic Fire, for 7 years and had a blast playing all over Hampton Roads. In 2009, Mystic Fire released their CD, Shatter. You can check it out on Spotify!
